COMMUNITY OPENING AT HARBOR SHORES

Donation made to the Boys and Girls Club
Benton Harbor, MI— Monday, July 13, 2009— Cornerstone Alliance Chairman Ken Kozminski announced today that the golf portion of the Community Opening of the Golf Club at Harbor Shores is proudly being sponsored by the Cornerstone Alliance organization. The event was a dress rehearsal for the new staff of Kemper Management in anticipation of the sneak preview season officially launching on July 15th.
Kozminski said, "Today is about recognizing and celebrating the many partners on a local, state and federal level that helped to get the Harbor Shores project to the milestone it has reached today. Our organization was founded in 1987 under the premises of "Building the Community Through Partnerships." That same foundation holds true today as we continue to work in partnership to make a difference in our service area communities."
"Many of the partners participating in today's event are the same partners that have supported numerous projects of our organization over the years,” said Wendy Dant Chesser, Cornerstone Alliance President. “Projects like the City Center in downtown Benton Harbor, the Edgewater Project, Atlantic Automotive, the HOPE VI project and so many others would not have been possible without the support we have received from these groups. This is a small thank you for all these groups have done over years, particularly now with all they have done for the Harbor Shores project," added Chesser.
Some of the partners participating in today's event include:
• The Cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph
• Benton Charter Township and St. Joseph Charter Township
• Berrien County
• Governor Granholm's Office
• Congressman Fred Upton's Office
• Michigan Department of Environmental Quality
• Michigan Economic Development Corporation
• Army Corps of Engineers
• Michigan Department of Natural Resources
• Environmental Protection Agency
• As well as others
"Our thanks to these and so many of our partners for their assistance in helping us to ‘Build the Community through Partnerships’," said Chesser.
In accordance with the guidelines established by the Golf Oversight Panel, $65 per player for a total of $3,120, will be credited to the golf course operations budget.
Donation to the Boys and Girls Club
At the Community Opening Event, Chairman Kozminski presented a $1,680 donation check to Doug Schaffer, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club In presenting the check, Kozminski said, "Cornerstone Alliance is grateful to have an organization like the Boys and Girls Club in the Benton Harbor community assisting in nurturing and formulating the youth of tomorrow. We are especially pleased with the Boys and Girls Club affiliation with The First Tee program."
