Quality of Life

Not only is Michigan's Great Southwest an excellent place to do business, it is an ideal place to have an outstanding quality of life. Find out why we are into the business of life.

The hottest thing in Michigan's Great Southwest, besides our lakeside living, is the abundance of locally grown fruits and vegetables, and our friendly small-town atmosphere, which lead to an excellent business climate. It's a dynamic mix of business and lifestyle that meshes together to create a thriving community where you can work and play.

  • The communities promise many of the benefits of a big city with the conveniences of a small town. StrawberriesThe St. Joseph community was named to Money Magazine's top 10 list for communities with the shortest commute at an average of just 13 minutes.
  • Located in the southwest corner of Michigan, along 50 miles of beautiful Lake Michigan, our area's amenities can't be beat.
  • Our excellent location in the heart of America's "Midwest coast" makes it a prime market for industry, business, and tourism.
  • Its substantial and wide variety of agriculture has established locally grown crops as major attractions for tourists and food processors.
  • Scenic natural beauty make us a choice destination for tourists, artists, and naturalists.
  • Named by Golf Digest as one of the Top 20 Metro Areas, three private and 17 public golf courses await you.
  • A spectacular quality of life that includes lake coastline scenery, fantastic boating, fishing, hiking trails, antique shops, festivals and many special events.

Michigan's Great Southwest offers a wide variety of unique amenities, including outstanding dining opportunities as well as an unbelievable amount of activities for a community our size.

Another strong amenity offered in our community is the many activities and opportunities offered through Lake Michigan College and Andrews University. Lake Michigan College offers the Mendel Mainstage season each year along with being the location for the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. Andrews University's Howard Performing Arts Center is Southwest Michigan's finest place for an exceptional concert experience.

The Economics Club is one of the unique opportunities offered here. It is one of our region's most prestigious clubs-boasting a membership of nearly 1,400. These members gather five or more times a year to enjoy some of the country's most celebrated speakers.
